RAJA was formed in 1976 as a social organization for Army JAG retirees who wish to stay in contact with each other. Excluding spouses, it is presently composed of about 400 members and associate members. Regular membership is open to commissioned and warrant officers who are retired members of the regular or a reserve component of the Army, including the Army Reserve and the National Guard. Associate members are widows and widowers of regular members. Dues are five dollars per year for regular members and their spouses. Life membership is one hundred dollars. Widows and widowers of regular members are granted life memberships. Each year, the organization holds a membership meeting. The annual meeting rotates among three sections of the country—East, Central, and West. The Office of The Judge Advocate General maintains a website that contains current information about the Corps. Message from Tim Naccarato The 36th annual meeting of RAJA was held in Charlottesville—the home of the JAG Regiment—from June 16 – 19, 2011, at the beautiful Omni Hotel on the downtown mall. Our hosts were Dave Graham and Fred Borch, with wonderful assistance from Pat O'Hare, Moe Lescault, and a group of young officer “volunteers” who staffed the hospitality suite. As always, the JAG Legal Center and School organized a terrific event that drew 220 RAJA members—the largest meeting in the history of RAJA. For the first time, we were joined at the icebreaker and golf tourney by 25 members of the JAG Retired NCO Association. The highlight of the gathering was the business meeting, lunch and tour of the school on Friday. The 10-minute business meeting was held in the Decker Auditorium and was followed by LTG Chipman and BG Miller briefing the members on the status of the Corps and the Legal Center and School. We had lunch on Saturday at the historic and beautiful Keswick Hall. Special thanks to Tom and Nancy Strassburg who hosted a wine and beer tasting on Friday evening. Many present and former LCS employees known to almost everyone attended. RAJA 2012 will be held in Fort Worth, Texas, at the Hilton from June 7 – 10, 2012. Mark your calendar now and polish up those boots and belt buckles. Mike and Jan Marchand will be our hosts. Yee-hah! Tim
